When we think about things we can do with our usb flash drive, it’s usually about the work that we can take with us and just keeping backups of important files that we need. Well we’re here today to tell you about some different ways to use your device that you may not know about.
Usb flash drive devices are a common sight these days. Whether as a great promotional item or just as something you picked up yourself for keeping your data mobile and secure. But even though we use these products all the time there’s still so many things that a lot of people don’t know they can do with them. That’s why we’re going to give you a list of 4 cool things you can do with your own devices to maybe help you in the future.
1. Take Applications With You Not Just Files
Although it’s common practice for us to take a work files with us on a usb flash drive, sometimes we run into the issue of not being able to access them or make new ones whilst away from our personal computers.
Why not take the programs you need to work with you? Many applications have a “Portable” version. This means that you can install it on your usb device and take the application with you. It’s worth noting that sometimes portable or light versions may not always have the full features. But at least you can still get work done rather than being stuck with a paddle.
2. Boost The Performance Of Your Computer with your usb flash drive
Often times when working in an office, we get stuck using older computers that are a little out dated and run a bit slowly. A lot of people don’t know but you can actually help speed things up by using a usb flash drive. It’s worth noting that this won’t work on computers that already run quickly, and the life expectancy of the usb device will be shortened dramatically. There are many sites out there which can easily show you how to accomplish this if you feel it’s something that would benefit you.
3. Encrypt Files To Keep Sensitive Documents Secure
When Working sometimes you will save important and sensitive information on a flash drive as a backup. There’s nothing wrong with this but should it be misplaced anyone can see what may be on your device. Don’t worry there is a way to prevent this by partitioning part of your device to require a password to access. What this means is that you will have 2 devices show up in your computer. One which you can access normally and a separate one for your more sensitive data to be kept on. A great free and easy way to do this is by using Rohos Mini Drive.
4. Access Your PC Like A Spy
Now although you probably aren’t James Bond, it can still be really fun and cool to access your computer with a usb device instead of the traditional methods. This works by turning your usb into a virtual padlock for your computer, work away like you normally would whilst your device is plugged in. But should you unplug the device, the computer will cease to work until the device is returned. Should you lose your device you will have to enter a password that you determine to regain control of your computer, so don’t worry you won’t be out of luck if you do happen to misplace it. The Best way to do this is with a program called predator, and although it’s not free, it’s not expensive either.
So there you have it, our list of 4 cool things you can do with your usb flash drive. We hope you are able to take something away from this post that can benefit you in the future.
